Project 6 : Transform

Finally we are now heading to buildings.. Project 6. a bungalow.
I had an air well in my house and I didn't want to miss that out since with a bungalow,
I will have space for it and a bungalow does need some extra light at the centre of the building.

some of the rough arrangements of space.

proper scaled drawing. 1:100

a tracing of key plan from Project 05

deciding final measurements of rooms and spaces.

going 2D to 3D : after floor plan, I worked on the elevations.

the bungalow lot.

from the living room to the air well.

bedroom 2.

for roofing I set the floor plan below as reference.

Sliding glass for air well. rain or shine? no worries.

I did the perspective drawing and then trace it the traditional way on presentation paper.

section of the house.

the air well: plants and water to go for. creeping greens too.

my first time to white print this time. tape it well then it'll look perfect without stains.

the print.

To sum this up, I've learnt a lot about space planning. There are always a minimum space to start with.
Rooms and toilets, they need a standard space for furnitures and pathways. For that we do need to take interior design into account. Even if one man is able to fit into the space, comfort matters too. We surely wouldn't want to feel compressed by walls in a room.

i think i prefer semi-detached houses. i tend to focus on one side of the garden for the bungalow.
or maybe, i can grow fruits and vegetables on the other side :D

  1. I love your plans. I am working on a heritage home in Penang and thinking of incorporating a sliding roof for the airwell. Care to offer some suggestions.

    1. Hi fk. Thank you for your comment.
I am sorry to say that I can't really provide you with a professional suggestion regarding sliding roof. I am still under my Part 1 architecture undergraduate programme.

Anyway, you can do some findings on retractable roof and skylight roofing.. I believe that will be suitable for air wells.
