Project 03: ONE FUNCTION SPACE THE ENVELOPE
- A shelter with a space for sitting, standing, lying down and personal cleansing-
brainstorm sketch.
I thought of 1.5 storey building as my shelter. Later found out from Dr Mazran
that it's called mezzanine.
After that, I had to change plan because we are only allowed to do
1 storey buildings at this stage.
so I split the level of one floor :)
development of idea...
I name the idea space for light.light for space. if only we allow space for openings to let light penetrate into the building, the natural light will create a sense of spaciousness in the building.
FINALISED. and now the measurements.
measurements all over the page. the angles and slanting was challenging.
drawing error..magic tape to the rescue... :)
stair case. 3 steps up.
furnitures and deck from balsa sheet and stick.
butter paper layering..
cutting of window openings.
plan done.
sliding doors. paper frames and transparency.
homey-comfy bed and cushions.
first carving of toilet wares.. i like the toilet bowl and the shower head :D
walls UP.
doors INSTALLED.
a peek in.
bed-toilet.
siap!
on the board. time for contouring.
This shelter is meant to be at a site with slight slopes, allowing occupants to enjoy
view from higher land.
done.
elevated.
mistakes. mistakes.
took this in the car on the way back to Penang. Sun ray suits the site as morning sun from the east.
The front face of building faces north.
into the living area.
through the roof, to the floor.
afternoon sun.
main door opens.
modelling frosted glass window at the toilet. for translucency.
the little wall that supports the cushion on the floor gives an 80 degree slant for occupants to rest their back. getting the slant directly for the wall saves space through smaller furniture space.
the slanting wall behind the bed enables occupants to also sit up on bed and lye their back on the wall comfortably.
roofed-UP.
fixed glass window from roof.
back view of toilet and the slanting of the wall.
made some wrinkles on paper :( it was my first time mounting on A1 board with spray mount.
the bubbles.
side elevations.
front and back elevation.
screwed the perspective drawing. haha! lack of time...
mistakes to learn. drawings to improve. colourings to learn. but job well done in time :)
what a chinese new year break.
My favourite part of the project? the model :)
